Walking Club Inaugurated

On Tuesday, May 12th at noon, the Amherst Health Department kicked off it's new weekly walking club, and we are very grateful to all of the employees that participated.

Led by Pam Fields-Sadler---the Health Department's Administrative Professional Extraordinaire---seven walkers followed a moderately challenging route through the Amherst College campus, rewarded with a lovely view from atop the hill overlooking the athletic fields and the tennis courts below. This particular walk takes approximately 25-30 minutes, and we may add a few extra minutes to the route when a particular group is willing to go just a little bit longer.

The Tuesday Walking Club will continue to meet every Tuesday at 12:00 at the Main Street entrance of Town Hall, directly across from Newbury Comics. Rain or shine, we plan to walk, with the exception of thunderstorms and heavy downpours.

If you cannot make it on Tuesdays at noon, feel free to contact the Health Department at 3007. If there is enough interest, we may indeed schedule a second weekly club at an alternate time. You can also walk alone, walk with a colleague, or form a walking club within your department. If you do, please let us know what you're doing, what route you follow, and how many people are participating.

Thank you, and keep walking!
